SERIES DESCRIPTION

From the producers of the Academy Award®-winning Best Picture of 2006, “Crash” is a provocative 13-episode drama series on Starz. Starring an ensemble cast led by film icon Dennis Hopper and set in Los Angeles, the series explores the complexities of social and racial tolerance and the meaning of the American dream through characters whose lives intersect and collide as they strive to achieve that dream.

The drama features a disparate group of Los Angelenos, including maverick record producer Ben Cendars (Dennis Hopper); impulsive cop Kenny Battaglia (Ross McCall); his actress-turned-police officer partner Bebe Arcel (Arlene Tur); frustrated Brentwood mom Christine Emory (Clare Carey); her pre-bust real-estate developer husband Peter Emory (D.B. Sweeney); former gang memberturned-EMT Eddie Choi (Brian Tee); Ben’s street-smart driver Anthony Adams (Jocko Sims); illegal Guatemalan immigrant Cesar Uman (Luis Chaves); and cocky, hot-tempered detective Axel Finet (Nick E. Tarabay).

“Crash” is the first original drama series from Starz entertainment, co-produced with Lionsgate. The production team is headed by creator/executive producer/writer Glen Mazzara (“The Shield”), and includes executive producers Paul Haggis, Bob Yari and Bobby Moresco, and co-executive producers Don Cheadle, Tom Nunan, Mark R. Harris, Jorg Westerkamp and Thomas Becker, who were members of the Oscar-winning theatrical production team. Joining Mazzara as series writers are co-executive producers Frank Renzulli (“The Sopranos”) and Ted Mann (“Deadwood,” “Miami Vice”); producer Stacy Rukeyser (“One Tree Hill,” “Without a Trace”); executive story editors Chris Collins (“The Wire”) and Randy Huggins (“The Shield”); and staff writer Sang Kyu Kim. John B. Moranville (“Drive”) is producer, Elizabeth Kling is associate producer, and Brad Caleb Kane is consulting producer.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS

Ben Cendars (Dennis Hopper) is a successful and respected record producer whose fight to remain relevant in the hip-hop world is made more difficult by his self-destructive tendencies.

Ben’s street-smart driver Anthony Adams (Jocko Sims) is always hustling for something better; he’s not a con artist, but a guy who understands there are really no rules for getting ahead.

LAPD street cop Kenny Battaglia (Ross McCall), whose beat is Silver Lake, is charming and irresponsible — an id with a gun and a badge, who’s more interested in joyriding than paperwork.

Latina LAPD cop Bebe Arcel (Arlene Tur), Kenny’s partner, has ambitions to get ahead in the department and is conflicted about her affair with a married co-worker.

Cocky police lieutenant Axel Finet (Nick E. Tarabay) uses his good looks and canny hunches to bend the rules to get what he wants. Even though he courts danger, he can’t imagine the consequences.

Eddie Choi (Brian Tee) is a twentysomething EMT who doesn’t fit in with his former gang buddies, or with his colleagues in the medical world. He is searching for a home somewhere.

The enigmatic, sexy Inez (Moran Atias) risks her marriage and more when she pursues a dangerous affair, but this temptress enjoys upping the stakes.

With his unorthodox measures, Detective Adrian Cooper (Tom Sizemore) turns the world of “Crash” upside down when he investigates a police-involved shooting by pitting partners, lovers, and spouses against each other.

Fashionable Brentwood mom Christine Emory (Clare Carey) seems to have it all: a beautiful home, happy marriage, wonderful daughter, and close relationship with her father – until she realizes there are problems she can’t ignore any longer.

Worried real-estate developer Peter Emory (D.B. Sweeney) built a cheesy development in the San Fernando Valley just before the bubble burst, and now he’s trying to stay afloat.

Lonely Megan Emory (Eloise Mumford), 16, feels constricted by her Westside world and distressed by her mother’s rivalry with her.

Aging Lou Emory (Michael Fairman) loves to get a rise out of his daughter Christine at any cost. Illegal immigrant Cesar Uman (Luis Chavez) encounters the brutalities of evil men and the rigors of the merciless desert in his quest to get to Los Angeles.
